Holiday Sausage Rollups

(3 Votes)
25 Min

Sure, it's easy to toss doughnuts and bagels on the table, but the gang is probably looking for something a little heartier on this special day. Here you go! A hot out of the oven pull-apart breakfast treat in the shape of a Christmas tree!

What You'll Need

  • 1 (16-ounce) package spicy pork sausage (such as Jimmy Dean)
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 2 (8-ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls (8 rolls each)

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, combine sausage, red pepper, and scallions; mix well. Unroll one package of crescent rolls and press seams together to form one large rectangle. Repeat with second package of crescent rolls.
  3. Spread half of sausage mixture evenly over each rectangle; starting from a narrow end, roll up jelly roll-style. Cut each roll into eight equal slices and place on its side on a baking sheet to form a Christmas tree (see photo).
  4. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until sausage is no longer pink and crust is golden. Serve warm.

We can get this ready the night before we want to serve it. Keep it covered in the refrigerator until ready to bake and serve. Remember that it may require a few extra minutes in the oven when it is chilled first.

Made this for breakfast to try out before Christmas cut the receipe in half and put in pie pan. This is the best...I was concerned about not cooking the sausage first all receipes I have used in the past with sausage say cook it first but the sausage was cooked and rolls were not dark.

One of my favorite guilt items is crescent rolls. They are just so good. I like this holiday sausage rollups recipe and I will most likely be preparing way before the holiday that we celebrate with a tree. Will post and let you know the outcome.

Sounds like this recipe is pretty good according to the following posts. I like the tips that Lmfoust 8742256 added about spraying the foil before cooking. This will not need to arranged in the shape of a tree make and serve your family. My favorite part, self serve helpings.

Excellent and so easy! I just made this as my football munchies for the night. I added 1/4 ketchup and a little Italian seasoning to the sausage mixture. I let the sausage stand at room temp for a few minutes, and it easily spread on the dough. I garnished with halved grape tomatoes as ornaments and chopped scallions. Very pretty. I covered my cookie sheet with foil as the picture showed. Next time I'll spray the foil lightly with oil. This would be a great Christmas morning dish. Yummy!

I made this last year for Christmas morning and we loved it. Since then I have made it twice. Yummy!!
