Soft and chewy hot out of the oven bread sticks, are as fast as 1-2-3! The easy twist is to start with frozen bread dough and a few basic seasonings, and we're baking like the pros!

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 pound prepared bread dough
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Pour oil into a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, combine Parmesan cheese, oregano, and basil; set aside.

  3. Divide dough into 16 pieces. With lightly floured hands, roll each piece of dough into a rope about 12 inches long. Dip each rope in oil then into cheese mixture, coating evenly. Gently twist each rope several times to create a spiraled look then lay bread sticks about 2 inches apart on 2 nonstick baking sheets.

  4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until crisp and golden.

NOTE FROM KAG If you have a bread machine make some fast rise white bread and stop it after the first rise then make up your bread stick and lay on a pan single layer to freeze dont crowd them when frozen put in baggie and freeze when want them take out what you need and bake If no bread mackine the buy the dough and thaw in frig then continue make up and freeze Things like this can come in hand for quick meals or unexpected guest you can cook frozen but allow few extra minutes . Make sure to date the baggie so you know how old they are i make up a double batch of bread dough and use all for stiks i make nime about 8 inches long and not to skiny. about 1 inch round if Im going to thaw and let rie once for fast cook 1 1/2 inch they will rise some in oven. I like to keep quick stuff on hand for the unexpect surprise we cook encounter.
