The apple pie filling is too sweet for me, so can I make my own apple filling myself?

Since I couldn't find cinnamon chips when I made this, I substituted butterscotch chips (left over from another recipe) and the cake turned out awesome! My boyfriend and I agreed that the cake had quite enough cinnamon flavor without the chips. Even though I have since found cinnamon chips, I will use the butterscotch again next time I make it!

This was really good, and will make it again. I had the same problem with finding cinnamon chips, four stores, including Walmart and no cinnamon chips to be found. I did use extra cinnamon though, sprinkled a light coating across the apples, and another light coating across the top after drizzling the butter. It was excellent! I'm a cinnamon fanatic, and sure the chips would have make it better, and will keep looking for them for next time. -)

Just an FYI to my post. Walmart does have the cinnamon chips, they are made by Hershey's. They must of been out of the the first time I looked! Still haven't seen them anywhere else though. Also going to try this recipe with the peach pie filling, I bet it would be good, too!

We do not recommend adding any more cinnamon to this recipe. Cinnamon chips are usually sold year-round in stores like Wal-Mart and can be found right next to the chocolate chips. However, if you cannot find them you can either leave them out completely or substitute for any other flavored chip of your choice. :) Enjoy!

dorisemma I made this last week for a guest and my husband and me, and it was a great hit. Just plain delicious. So easy to make. Also, I was lucky to have some left over, so I ate one helping with some milk - now that was delicious, too. This will make a wonderful potluck dish. Thanks for a keeper.

Hi there! Yes, you can use fresh apples in this recipe. We believe you will need about 4-5 apples, and they will need to be sliced thin. Enjoy!

Could you include nutritional information in your recipes and offer a lighter version?

This question had been addressed multiple times, and the answer remains, "no," they are not going to include nutritional information, nor are they going to offer lighter versions. This is NOT a "healthy eating" site, nor does it profess to be. A rudimentary knowledge of nutrition will inform you that these recipes are high in fat, sugar, sodium, preservatives and carbs. Many, if not most, use convenience or processed foods, and while they may be "ooh, it's so good," they are far from "ooh, it's so good for you."

Why do people always want to change or alter a recipe ?? Maybe this isn't the sight for you ! If you have a better or different version you could jest make that one and trust your gut .
