  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

What to Do

How much does this recipe make (cups wise) , and is this icing stiff enough to hold a shape?

Hello there! - This recipe makes about 3 cups worth of frosting, and it is stiff enough to frost a cake or cupcakes. Enjoy!

Can you use powdered cocoa in lieu of chocolate squares?

Hello there! Yes, you can use powdered cocoa. Just substitute the chocolate squares with 1/4 cup of the powdered cocoa. Enjoy!

If we use cocoa powder, it doesn't need to be melted right?

No, you do not need to melt the cocoa powder. Enjoy!

I love this really simple recipe and adding peanut butter makes it even butter.

I like to add a bit of rum flavoring or liquor, it gives it added richness.

I love this chocolate frosting recipe. I put 4 tablespoons of peanut butter in my frosting. It tastes like a reese's peanut butter cup. Yummy. Like reese's peanut butter cup. Yummm

love this and the helpful comments from others--the adding of peanut butter the most!!

This is the best chocolate frosting I've ever tasted and so easy to make.

Lemonade-Infused Catfish

This is one of those dishes thats just as good served over a bed of salad greens as it is over a bed of couscous, or well, over just about anything.
