What You'll Need
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
- 4 eggs
- 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 1/4 cups milk

In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups cheese and macaroni; sprinkle into pie plate.
-
Place remaining ingredients, except remaining 1/4 cup cheese, in a blender jar and blend until smooth about 15 seconds on high speed (or 1 minute in a large bowl with a hand mixer). Pour into pie plate.
-
Bake about 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cheese. Bake an additional 1 to 2 minutes, until cheese is melted.
-
Cool 10 minutes then cut into wedges.

Omg yum...talk about your indulgent super cheesy things that all dreams are made of goodness, yes and please! I can't believe something this yummy is as easy to make as it is...and I'm thinking, assuming there is anything left over, it can be put into the freezer to enjoy at another time right? You know what would probably take this to another level of deliciousness? Some crab and a pinch of red pepper flakes!

At first I was skeptical of this recipe, since I thought that the addition of the biscuit mix would make the dish really cakey or bread like, kind of like a spoon bread. I was fairly pleased with the results. It didn't quite fit into the pan size specified, I was worried it might leak over and make a mess of my oven, so I put in a 8 x 8 square pyrex with higher sides. You could add diced jalapenos for a Mexican twist, and diced leftover ham would be great in it as well.

I made this the other day as mac and cheese is one of my daughters favorite side dishes. Although we found it to be quite tasty the macaroni settled to the bottom and "fused" together making it impossible to chew and eat. I am going to try it again but will partially cook the macaroni first....

After getting over the somewhat strange idea of having a crust on mac cheese, we decided it was actually pretty good. Not the usual creamy style, but still good. I served it with barbecued oven baked ribs and my husband was in his glory......good combo! Will def make again, very easy. The only issue I have is that using a DEEP DISH pie plate would have helped - way too much for a regular 9".

Very easy twist on mac cheese. Reminds me of Bisquick's impossible pies. You could add cooked ground beef or sausage, cubed cooked ham, pepperoni or just about anything you like. But, if you do so use a larger casserole as the basic recipe fills the pie plate.

Bisquick "IMPOSSIBLE PIE" recipes are TERRIFIC! My 50 daughter S the has ALWAYS PREFERRED the "custard impossible pie" for her birthday INSTEAD of a cake! Just mix ALL ingredients together and POUR INTO 10-inch pie dish. Bake at recommended oven temp. When baked - the crust is on the bottom and the "custard filling" is on top! I DUNNO! - But is is! -) TRY IMPOSSIBLE PIES! Very easy! AND "eater friendly"!

I do see an error---there is 1/4 cup of shredded cheese unaccounted for. It says "Place remaining ingredients, EXCEPT REMAINING 1/4 CUP CHEESE" in blender jar.... There is 1/2 cup remaining. I would simply put the remaining 1/2 cup on top of the recipe, as I think that's what is meant. (Knowing me, I'd probably add even more cheese, lol.) Sounds like a recipe my daughter would just love!

Is the macaroni uncooked in this recipe? It sounds easy if it all cooks in the oven. I hope someone that has tried it will answer my question. Thanks.

There seems to be 2 typos in this recipe. 2cups minus 1-1/2 = 1/2 cup, NOT 1/4 cup. Also, in step 2, did you mean to say 1-1/2 cups or 2 cups of macaroni to be placed in the medium-sized bowl? Please fix the recipe itself, and not just a correction in the comments, so I can add this to "My Recipe Box". Thanx...

Sorry, I don't see any errors: 2 cups of cheese total= 1-1/2 cups goes into the bottom of the dish mixed with the 1 cup macaroni......1/4 cup gets put into the "blender jar with all other ingredients" to make the egg slurry to pour over mac & cheese, and 1/4 cup is saved to sprinkle on top of the pie at the end of baking. :)

Y'all are making an extremely easy recipe unnecessarily complicated. 1 1/2 c. of cheese mixed with the macaroni, 1/4 c. left over for the top. 1/4 cup goes in the blender with the mustard etc. It's as easy as falling off a slick log.
