With the slits cut on top, these Almond Bear Claw pastries resemble a bear's claw. And you'll need a bear-sized appetite to wolf down these treats because they're made with our signature "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!®"

What You'll Need

  • 1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 (12-ounce) can almond filling
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat 2 baking sheets with cooking spray.

  2. Cut each pastry sheet into 9 (3-inch) squares. Place about 2 teaspoons almond filling onto one side of square. Fold dough over and press edges to seal. Cut 4 slits about 1/2-inch apart along edge of dough. Curve pastry slightly to resemble claws and place on baking sheets.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together egg yolk and water; brush egg mixture over pastries and sprinkle evenly with almonds.
  4. Bake 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden. Remove from baking sheets to a wire rack; cool.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over pastries and serve.

I made these yesterday and can't stop eating them. When I got my can of Solo almond filling out and opened it I discovered it was apricot. I was just as good with apricot, but I need to try the next batch with the almond, my favorite. Then on to raspberry after that!

Apricot sounds does raspberry!

Delicious with easy fast prep!

Does the almond filling come in a jar like Bakers Secret brand poppy seed filling?

Hi there! We used Solo brand almond filling in this recipe, which comes in a can. You can typically find it in the baking aisle near the other fillings. Enjoy!

mmmm - just the right amount of almond filling with the sweetness of the drizzle. these are scrumptious - especially when they're warm. I like to heat it in the microwave for a few seconds and enjoy with my coffee.

Is almond filling the same as almond paste???

No, almond filling has a much more softer spendable consistency than almond paste. You can't substitute one for the other.

Awesome... Love Mr Food & His Scrumptious Recipes! :)
