Baked Pork Chops

Thick and juicy, our Baked Pork Chops sure aim to please! We love cooking up this easy pork chop recipe in the oven because it's so much healthier for you than a fried version. What You'll Need
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 onions, cut in half and sliced
- 5 bay leaves
- 4 (3/4-inch) center-cut pork loin chops (about 1 pounds total)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-flavored bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 9- x 13-inch baking dish, combine oil, onions, and bay leaves.
- Place egg in a shallow dish. Place bread crumbs in another shallow dish. Dip pork chops in egg then bread crumbs, coating completely.
- Place chops over onions and sprinkle with salt and pepper; coat lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until chops are cooked through. Be sure to remove and discard bay leaves before serving.

I made this recipe for dinner tonight. It was absolutely amazing. The onions and the bay were perfect compliments to the pork. Served with rice and green beans on the side. Oh, and pork gravy for the rice of course. Totally delicious meal.

Made this and agree with one of the other posts...pork chops were flavorful just not as tender as I would like. Will try the foil idea someone posted on here next time. Oh and I almost always start with the original recipe and cook it like the recipe is worked but then add or subtract what I know works or didn't like. That is the nature of cooking you take the basic idea and make it so your family and friends will eat it. Who wants to cook a bunch of food and have no one eat it?

Our family liked this recipe. I followed it exactly, except I turned the pork chops over half way through baking as some others recommended. If you like onions, spoon them over the pork chops before serving.

I am going to make this tonight. exactly like the recipe calls for. I cannot stand when people rate the recipe and and post their changes. Just post if it was good, bad or ugly. This is Mr Food's recipe not your food blog!

I followed the recipe exactly and thought it was quite tasty however next time I'm going to cover it with foil for the first 3o minutes or so - I thought they needed to be more tender and that would do it. I also would flip them over during the last half of cooking to brown both sides.

I love this site. Everyone has something they will change. Excuse me but some are changing the whole recipe. I do not understand why people look at recipes to only talk about their recipes. Really what is the point to view this site. I could also write a recipe that is nothing like this. Is this why people come here. Confused!!!!!!

I love the fact that others give comments, I learn so much more about different flavors and other ways of making a recipe. That is what cooking is all about, making it easier, making it with the taste that your family would like. The fact about most recipes is that someone else made up another version of the original recipe. I hate it when people use these sites to complain....No one that offers another way of doing these recipes are trying to take away the glory of the person that submitted them, they are just giving their version of how to make it healthier or simpler.

When I bake pork chops, I usually stuff them with bread stuffing. Just slit he pork chops, stuff and tie shut (I have a carpet needle just for this purpose), add some small red potatoes, halved, and the onions, cut into halfmoons, season with salt, pepper and sage. But, this sounds really yummy, too, served with roasted vegetables!

I make a Baked Pork chop but never use any oil or butter. I use parchment paper, it works great and the pork chops own fat cooks to a crispness. I bake them at 375 for about a hour. I turn them after 1/2 hour. I also use crushed soda crackers as my coating. I season my chops with whatever the mood of the day calls for, then dip in the egg, (the spices do stick on through the egg dip) then dip in soda cracker crumbs. I press the chops in the crumbs to be sure they are coated well. Nothing better than baked pork chops with a oven baked potato and a salad. Very simple meal to make.

I use alot of these for a starter..instead of bay leaves due to I have crushes...I used italian seasoning and instead of just onions since hubby doesn't like them that much used some fresh chopped garlic..
