Panna cotta is a chilled Italian-style dessert with a custard consistency. It may have a fancy name but this panna cotta recipe is easy as can be! Serve it when you want to impress, and you're sure to be on the receiving end of loads of raves!

What You'll Need

  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

What to Do

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over milk; let stand until gelatin is softened, about 5 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, combine heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar has dissolved. (Do not let it come to a boil.)

  3. Remove mixture from heat, add softened gelatin mixture, and stir to completely dissolve gelatin.

  4. Strain hot mixture into a large glass bowl then carefully pour or spoon mixture into custard cups. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.

Note

  • Just before serving, garnish with your favorite berries or sauce.

  • Another of our mouth-watering Italian dessert favorites is Tiramisu, made with lady fingers and mascarpone cheese.

Made this for dessert tonight and it was a huge hit. So easy and tasted like it came fron some fancy Italian restaurant. My 4 year old loved it.

I think you need to include nutritional information. The fat grams are enough for a week!! How much sodium?

You know, you ARE perfectly within your rights to refrain from making this.

Hello all! We apologize for the confusion, the correct amounts are 1/2 cup milk and 2-1/2 cups heavy cream. We are in the process of updating the video. Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Enjoy!

I am waiting for the correct ingredients.

I'm still waiting to find out whether it's the 1/2 cup milk as the recipe states - or the 2 1/2 cups he talks about (and shows) in the video!

Which is correct 1/2 cup milk or 2 1/2 cups milk

the video states 2 1/2 cups 0f milk and 2 1/2 cups of heavy cream but the ingredients call for 1/2 cup of milk and 2 1/2 cups of heavy cream which one is the correct amount

I love that Panna Cotta. Oh, it's so good!!!

The recipe says 1/2 cup, the video says 1/2 cup. Then it's a 1/2 cup. What is so hard about that?

The video says 2 1/2 cups milk...the recipe says 1/2 cup...which is it?

The video says 2 1/2 cups - and that is the amount he's using if you check the side of the measuring cup it's in. That's different than the recipe.

relook at video says 21/2 cups milk and 21/2 cups heavy cream lol

How much milk should be used? The printed recipe says 1/2 cup. Video says 2 1/2 cups.

Which is it? I want to know also...before I waste the ingredients.

on that panna cotta could i use canned milk instead of heavy cream
