With our hectic lifestyles, we always seem to be eating on the run. That's why these apple harvest pockets work so well. Not only are they portable, but they're packed with good-for-us apples and cinnamon.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (15-ounce) (15-ounce) package refrigerated rolled pie crusts
  • 2 cups peeled, diced apples (see Option)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Caramel topping (optional)

What to Do

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

  2. Unroll the pie crusts and place on a cutting board. Cut each crust into quarters, making 8 wedges total.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon; mix well.

  4. Spoon 1/3 cup of the apple mixture on one half of each wedge. Fold the wedge over the filling. With a fork, crimp the edges to seal the dough. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Cut several small slits in the top of each to allow steam to escape.

  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until light golden. Serve warm or cool as is, or drizzle with caramel topping and serve with ice cream.

Option

A 21-ounce can of apple pie filling can be used in place of the apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon.

These apple harvest pockets sound delicious. I am sure these are a lot better than those I typically purchase thru the fast food line (you know the place). Really happy that the "dough" is made from pie shell because pastry is not my thing. I just have to give these a try before the week is out.

I love myself some apply pie and I would call this a sweet take on my favorite. Having this, I would not need a plate and fork but could take it on the go. I could gobble these up cold or warmed up with a little ice cream on the side. Yummy recipe.

These are DELICIOUS!!!! And easy to make, my family loved them.

These apple pockets were really good. But, instead of folding them into triangles, I balled them up. This was much better, and easier for fitting the filling it. They are super delicious, and I'm happy that they didn't burn too much.

P.S. and I actually made them.......

Not happy. These are like appetizers you can't only get maybe a tip of a Teaspoon in them. Plus, they never brown at all. Very unhappy about this one..

I have made this many times, just thought this recipe was different. But, it is not. I do put milk on my crust though. makes it alot tastier, & flaky.

have anyone tried the peach pie filling?

Mine sure didn't turn out like the picture. The triangles just were'nt big enough. Probably won't make them again

I have made and love these, brushing milk on the pie crust before baking is nice also try substituting refrigerator crescent rolls as the dough...YUM!

I was just looking for a recipe to use a few apples and my crescent rolls - thanks - sound GREAT!

easy and so good, willmake this over and over again

msrose806. Better to make your own pie crust, cut into circles and shape as for fried pies or turn-overs.

I find that instruction #4 is very confusing. I am not a newbee when it comes to following recipes, but I find this one not very clear and probably not make this recipe because of that.

It's very simple, nothing confusing.

I don't understand what is confusing about it. Seems pretty simple to me, particularly when there is a picture to show you what it looks like. Did you see the picture, ms rose?

If you ever read this again; you cut your dough into squares then you turn the square around to a diamond. Put the filling in the middle of what would be the bottom half then pull the top half over, line up the sides and crimp with the tines of a dinner fork.

I love all of your recipes and cant wait to have my husban cook all of them for me ,after all his the cook in the house Im just the taster in are family! thanks again Lorchid
