10 Minute Stroganoff

Ten minutes to dinner, and this 10 Minute Beef Stroganoff couldn't be any easier. It's a one-pot meal, so cleanup's a breeze, and it's the perfect dinner recipe to make in a flash!

What You'll Need

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (8-ounce) package presliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 16 ounces carton sour cream
  • 1 (10-3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • Garlic salt and black pepper to taste (optional)

What to Do

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink; drain in a colander, discarding drippings. Set ground beef aside.

  2. Add mushrooms and onion to skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until tender.

  3. Add ground beef, sour cream, and soup; cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring occasionally. If desired, stir in garlic salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately over hot cooked egg noodles.

This recipe has been a family favorite for years. The only thing I do differently is add about 1/2 cup of wine (whatever kind you have on-hand) before serving. Let the wine cook down, and you're ready to go. I serve it on noodles, rice, potatoes, or toast.

This was also good over toasted hamburger buns! Everyone loved it!

I do love sour cream in my stroganoff, but I find the sauce a little soupy so I thicken it up just a bit with some corn starch dissolved in water. Also, don't leave out the garlic salt pepper, they are crucial to preventing the blandness noted in previous comments. And I'd never make stroganoff without a good dose of Worcestershire, it makes it perfect! This is also delicious served over rice.

why can't I save certain recipes anymore?

People, quit squawking about what someone adds or leaves out. It is their recipe, and they can add or delete anything they want. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Also, some are allergic to certain foods. Reading how someone changed a recipe has helped me many times. Gives me ideas that I never would have thought of on my own.

I've made this for years; it's a big hit in our house. However, I add about 1/2 cup of wine (whatever I have at the time) after the beef is browned; then add the remaining ingredients EXCEPT the sour cream. Right before serving, I stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons of sour cream. Serve over egg noodles. Sometimes, I use left-over mashed potatoes or rice. YUM-O!!

Sounded good; however, my husband and I agreed on not to make it again. There was too much sour cream.. was a pool of white... needed something else for taste.

You ever think that the next time you make it you could LEAVE OUT some of the sour cream? What it 'needs' is a little hot sauce, worcestershire sauce or red pepper flakes and some Italian herbs.

Oh and it has to be topped with parsley

I added nutmeg for a flavour

Why on earth would you sully the taste of stroganoff with nutmeg??

Anybody tried this over spahgetti?

Skipped the onion, but put it in the skillet and my boyfriend was RAVING about it! Forgot the noodles but he ate it straight and suggested putting a couple of spoonfuls over mashed potatoes!

ketchup...just a squirt and worcesteshire sauce and real garlic/oh wait everything here comes out of a prepared carton. I guess if you want it to taste like a box you cook from a box....regardless, sour cream should be added at the end and just heated through.

Again, leave the original recipe alone--and skip the sassy comments!

Could you just leave it alone and let each person decide how much sour cream he/she wants to use??

Celery soup is good instead of mushroom soup. Also I add paprika.

This does read somewhat tasty, but totally lacking in flavor. Also for ANY dish to be called "stroganoff," sour cream is ALWAYS added right before tasting. The name is wrong. Other than that, it reads quite quick & easy, but still lacking severely in flavor, unless one likes Cream of whatever soup - which I will admit usually is pretty tasty yet still lacking severely in flavor. - cllM

I agree with you, no flavors are added but onion. I have made Hamburger Stroganoff, I add white wine, garlic and have used cream cheese when out of sour cream. And you are right the sour cream or cream cheese must only be added the last few minutes.

I love this recipe except that I use dry onion soup mix instead of sliced onion. It makes it "spicier" and more tasty. Everyone who has eaten my recipe, likes it, asks for seconds and the recipe! Also, I add some milk to make it a little saucier.

I added a LOT of black pepper-maybe a teaspoon? by shaking it all over the dish while cooking.

quick and easy and cost effective

Fast, easy, and tasty. Cream of mushroom soup is a little "gray" for me, so I use cream of chicken for a more golden end result. There are already plenty of mushrooms for flavor.

cream of celery is also good

I have used this same recipe for over 15 yrs. only I omit the fresh mushrooms..It is a fast meal to prepare,easy clean up, and the entire family enjoys it..
