What You'll Need:
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- ICING
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
What To Do:
- Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 14- x 12-inch rectangle. Spread dough with butter and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll up dough tightly in jelly-roll fashion. I'm with kissyree...I'll never, ever buy canned sweet rolls again! These were easy to make, and tasted fabulous! They seriously taste like they were slaved over for hours and hours....everybody I fed them to now thinks I am a much better baker than I really am!

Hi there! You can find frozen bread dough in many supermarkets around the country, including Walmart stores. We recommend calling ahead before making the trip! A common brand is Bridgford. Good luck!

If you have a major grocery store that sells baked product's " Baked in Store " chances are any yeast product came in in dough form . The store proofs bakes . Hence baked in store . Go to bake department and ask to purchase bread dough, dinner rolls or anything that says " baked in store " . Hope I have been helpful .

Well, I am telling you right now that I will never need to buy another sad, refrigerated, canned cinnamon bun again! These are a spot-on flavor-for-flavor clone of those delectable buns they used to sell at the local mall. (They closed all of the nearby locations.) And best of all, I didn't have to futz around with proofing yeast or making a dough! I'd also like to thank the reviewer who shared that brilliant suggestion to put an electric heating pad under the pan to help the rise because that made these even more of a breeze to make! I will be making these cinnamon buns - and recommending this recipe to everybody - for a very long time!

I have made these with the Rhodes dough for years, and they always turn out amazing! I have to add chopped nuts to the filling, though...haha. I put the frozen bread dough in a glass bread loaf pan which has been sprayed with non stick spray, leave in the oven which has been on warm for a few minutes, turn oven off. Cover pan with saran sprayed with non stick spray. Leave over night, and in the morning the dough will be over the top! I always do two loaves, one to bake as bread, one for cinnamon rolls! The dough will be puffy, so punch it down , knead a bit and proceed.

Can't get Rhodes rolls to rise? Never heard of it. I place the pan of rolls on an electric heating pad set to medium. Cover the pan with cling wrap with the side next to the rolls sprayed with PAM to prevent sticking when the rolls rise. I then place a light weight flour sac type towel over the top to help hold in the heat. They rise beautifully every time, no matter what temperature my house is!

I have some frozen Rhodes rolls that I don't use because I don't have anywhere in my house where it's warm enough to make them rise. I'm going to try this recipe using that dough instead of bread dough as such.

My kitchen is the coldest room in the house. When I make dough I put it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean dish cloth and set over a large bowl of HOT water. If your kitchen is drafty, you can put everything in the (unheated) oven. This works for me. Hope it helps!

Another option that has always worked for me is to preheat your oven to 200 deg or the lowest temp (mine is 170). Then turn OFF the oven before putting dough in to rise.
