This chili is meant to be shared. Made with a special ingredient that adds a touch of smokiness, it's a stand-out chili recipe that's absolutely delicious and totally comforting. What You'll Need

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (15-1/2-ounce) cans kidney beans, drained
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, heat oil until hot. Add beef, onion, and garlic, and cook until meat is browned, stirring occasionally; drain off excess liquid. Add tomatoes, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper; stir to mix well.
     
  2. Cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I don't know if it's a typo, but isn't 5 pounds of ground beef a bit much to serve 8 people?

It says 2 lbs. not 5!

Also it says it serves 6 not 8!!
