Bananas Foster

Bananas Foster is a tasty dessert that you can find in many five-star restaurants. Luckily, you won't have to spend a lot of money to get this tempting dessert 'cause our recipe for Bananas Foster is simple and uses only 5 ingredients!

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 bananas, quartered
  • 1/3 cup light or dark rum
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream

What to Do

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add brown sugar and cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.
     
  2. Add bananas and rum, and cook 2 to 3 minutes, or until heated through. 

  3. Scoop ice cream into serving bowls and top with banana mixture. Serve immediately.

Not sure what I did wrong, but I just tried to make this to put over some waffles. I didn't measure anything, which may be my mistake, but the brown sugar never dissolved right. Some did, but some lumped together and got hard. I didn't stir it CONSTANTLY, but very frequently. I used only about 4 Tab. of butter and maybe 1/4 cup of brown sugar. I also sprinkled in a little cinnamon. Was not sirring my mistake? It remains mainly separated.

Hello! Yes, the Test Kitchen thinks not measuring ingredients and stirring constantly is reason recipe did not work out. Hope this helps!
