No time to bake a pie from scratch? Today's busy schedules often keep us from doing things we love, like baking homemade treats for the family. Well, today we've got plenty of shortcuts, like ready-to-bake pie shells, to help us.

What You'll Need

  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 nine-inch frozen ready-to-bake deep-dish pie shell, thawed

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except pie shell; mix well. Pour into pie shell and bake 60 to 70 minutes, or until light golden and center is set.

  3. Allow to cool, then cover and chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Make sure when you are grating the lemon peel to only grate the yellow part of the peel and not the bitter white pith.
