This easy deep dish pizza is ready in just 30 minutes, and is sure to please the kids with its cheesy pizza goodness. You'll give the flavors and simplicity of this dish an A+!
What You'll Need
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup frozen bell peppers and onions, thawed and drained
- 1 (10-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 12 slices mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
What to Do
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, brown beef, stirring until meat crumbles and is no longer pink. Drain off pan drippings. Stir in spaghetti sauce, Italian seasoning, and onion and pepper mixture and cook until heated through.
- Meanwhile, unroll pizza dough and press into bottom and halfway up sides of baking dish (see Notes). Line pizza dough with 6 slices of mozzarella cheese. Top with meat mixture. Place remaining 6 slices of cheese over meat filling and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese begins to bubble up. Cool 5 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
Test Kitchen Tips:
- Make sure to push the pizza crust up the sides of your baking dish so the delicious pizza filling will bubble up inside the crispy crust. And if you like your pizza with more toppings, add pepperoni or crumbled, cooked sausage for extra taste!

I made this for dinner tonight and it was very good. The only things I did a little bit different was I used 6 square slices of cheese on the top and the bottom because the supermarket in my area doesn't carry long sliced cheeses. I also used a 15 oz. can of diced tomatoes in sauce because I couldn't find chunky tomato sauce. Also no Italian seasoned tomatoes so I added a teaspoon of Italian seasoning to them. It was a big hit in my house. My partner put his slices under the broiler for a couple of minutes because he said it wasn't brown enough for him.

Although I haven't tried this yet, I would like to suggest a couple of tips. Spread your ground beef in a baking pan and cook in the oven. After draining, grind in food processor before mixing with tomatoes. This will make a smoothe and meaty sauce without the lumpy, sometimes tough bits of ground beef. I also use shredded cheese. For some reason I feel the processed slices are less healthy

Hello! The mozzarella cheese (as sold by Sargento or Kraft) comes in long slices. So 3 long slices on the bottom and 3 on the stop should work. In the picture, the casserole was cut after it was baked.

I hope all your [fans] will give it a try. Trust me 'fellow cooks & bakers,' you don't want to miss out on it! I will be trying this one also [real soon]. "Little ole' Ohio cook"

Growing up I remember my mother making this and I haven't had it in decades. When I saw this on the show this morning the memories came back and it was "oooh so good". Thank you so much I never asked her how she made it and never thought I would eat this dish again. She will be looking down at me in the kitchen tomorrow smiling. Thanks

I skipped the ground beef but did add some browned italian sausage and coarsely chopped fresh spinach to sauce, just wilting it. very nice way for getting kids to eat spinach.

Sounds delicious! I will be making this for my family soon. Considering the cost of "take-out" pizza these days, this sounds like an economical dish, too!

you don't need to. Just highlight what you want, click file at top of computer, click print and a box will come up.....then hit selection as opposed to ALL. works every time...i've saved alot of ink that way.

Instead of groundbeef try italian sausage or half/half mixture and a Tbsp. italian seasonng to the sauce plus 2 Tbsp. ketchup for a more tangy sauce. I've been making deep dish or big foot pizzas for twenty yrs.,but always looking for new ways to make or add to it!
