Easy Avocado Spread

(2 Votes)
Easy Avocado Spread

This Easy Avocado Spread is made with just three ingredients, and it tastes so creamy and luscious! It makes for a great topping on just about anything, including toast rounds or even a simple piece of chicken. Just be warned: this avocado spread is very addictive!

What You'll Need

  • 2 ripened avocados, rinsed and dried
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

What to Do

  1. Using a sharp knife, cut the avocados in half, working around the pit. Twist avocados to separate the halves. Spoon out the pit and scoop out the avocado flesh into a resealable plastic storage bag. Add lemon juice and salt, seal bag, and mash the avocado with your hands until mixture is combined and spreadable.
  2. Cut the tip off one corner of plastic bag and pipe mixture onto French bread slices, crackers, or slices of fresh vegetables. Top with a dab of your favorite condiment, such as salsa, sun-dried tomatoes, or chopped olives.

  • By the way, did you know that avocados contain MUFA's (Monounsaturated Fatty Acids)? Those are the kinds of good fats that help keep our hearts healthy!

I substituted fresh lime juice for the lemon juice and used garlic salt in this simple spread recipe. It was great. I had some of the lemon juice in the bottle made from reconstituted lemon juice concentrate, but when dealing with such beautiful fresh avocados, I didn't think that that stuff would do it justice. This gives great new life to leftover holiday turkey on a sandwich, but this stuff is so good that I could just sit there with a spoon and snack on the stuff right out of the bowl.

Avocado is easily my favorite topping. Lemon juice is a great idea because it fights browning, but if you want to amp up the taste I recommend adding Sriracha or another mild-medium hot sauce. It adds a little spice, but the creaminess of the avocado balances it out so you aren't running for milk or water after one bite. Better even, mix it with egg yolks and spoon it into a boiled egg for a different take on deviled eggs! That's where the plastic bag will come in especially handy no messy spoons! Just pipe it right in.
