Could it get any more tempting than our own homemade peach butter? This slow cooker version allows us to enjoy our fast-paced life, and still come home to old-time tastes.

What You'll Need

  • 5 pounds fresh peaches, peeled, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

What to Do

  1. In a blender, puree peaches.
  2. In a 2-quart slow cooker, combine all ingredients.
  3. Cook on low setting 4 to 6 hours, or until butter reaches a thickened consistency and brown color. Let cool. Store in a container and refrigerate until ready to use.

It was so delicious , what other kind of fruit can I use ?

Can frozen, thawed peaches be used? If so, how much would I use?

The Test Kitchen has not tried this with fozen, thawed peaches. However, we estimate it would take 40 ounces (about 2.5 bags) in order to do so. Thanks for reaching out to us!

This looks like such a great spread recipe! I really like the peach preserves they sell at the grocery store, and this one looks so much fresher and tastier. I could see stuffed French toast with this stuff in the middle, as a topping for yogurt, in crepes, or into oatmeal just to name a few. And I love that it has no added junk in it like preservatives.

if anyone reads these comments can you tell me if this can be frozen ?? Thank You Sharon

Thank you for your question. We have not tried freezing this in the Test Kitchen, so we are unsure whether it will freeze well or not. In our professional opinion, it will become too watery if frozen. Thank you!

sounds GOOD do you have recipe for pumpkin butter???

Would it ruin the taste/consistency to can these in pint jars? I'd like to give this as Christmas presents to my neighbors instead of salsa every year.

can you use sugar substitute like Splenda in this? Also the note says you can use canned peaches; how many cans or cups would that be? thank you!

I see some of the questions, do not show answers, such as if you are substituting can peaches how many can do you use

We would recommend using 5-6 (16 oz) cans of peaches.

When using canned peaches, do you include the liquid?

Hi there! If you are using canned peaches as a substitute in this recipe, do not use the liquid. Enjoy!

How long will this keep in the refrigerator?
